If there ever was a serious that perfectly showcased what a “perfect storm” might look like, then this drama is the one! Following a group of the military defector arrest team, the drama encompasses the lives of soldiers on both sides of the line in a gut-wrenching story that will leave you reeling.
Portraying the harsh realities of the military, the story is a dark and grim tale about different people which will leave you teary-eyed. Every store is heart-wrenching and won’t leave you even after the series is over. There are moments in the series, portrayed so well by every cast member, that are absolutely haunting and will have a profound impact on viewers. Although it sometimes feels a little hopeless, audiences who want something gritty and realistic must watch this one for the stories and the excellent way that they are told.
The Roundup (2022)
This movie, starring Ma Dong-seok, is a kickass sequel to an equally good movie. It’s entertaining and funny and in spite of being a thriller, balances its humour so well that you will be left at the edge of your seats but also laughing along the way! The storyline is light but tense and the characters are believable as cops because they are intelligent and hard-working. Thus, you won’t be frustrated when you watch the bumbling lead characters who win at the end because of “main-character” luck. Plus, with Dong-seok’s killer action moments, this movie is a fitting watch for everyone who wants a good time without the frills.
My Liberation Notes (2022)
This hopeful and calm series is something that will touch many people’s hearts in a way that they never knew before. Showcasing the lives of three siblings in a sleepy village, the series highlights the realities of people who suffer from the competitive nature of modern life and the pressures that family and traditions have on individual expressions. The characters and their lives are so realistic that it makes your heart break at first. However, as the series progresses, so do the circumstances and before long, you see hope and change. There are moments in the series that are so profound that they change the way you look at life forever.
Big Bet S1-S2 (2023)
Focusing on the life of a casino owner who faces many obstacles and hardships, even getting framed for a murder, after he flees from South Korea to the Philippines, this series handles its mystery and thriller elements from one episode to another, keeping you engrossed in the flow of the story throughout its runtime. The characters are well-written, so much so that you’d want to keep watching the drama to know where they will end up. Plus, with a fantastic cast who are all at the top of their game, there’s not much to lose in this world of corruption, murder and threatening situations.
